Bernt Wennberg received his PhD in Mathematics 1993 from Chalmers University of Technology. After a two-year postdoctoral position in Paris he took a position at Chalmers, where he is full professor since 2004.

摘要:

The Kac model is a Markov jump process that was invented as a model of the Boltzmann equation. While being much simplified, it retains enough of the structure of a real particle system to help understanding for example the relation between the particle system and the limiting Boltzmann equation. Kac’s seminal paper provides a mathematically rigorous definition of chaos (or the Boltzmann property), and a rigorous proof that this property is propagated by the evolution of the jump system.

The Kac model has been studied and developed in a large number of papers, and I will review some of these variations, and related questions concerning the propagation of chaos.
